This song, appropriately started with the bass. I wrote the song over a very simple electronic drum beat.
And it sat for a while, while I figured how to arrange and complete it.
I knew I wanted to maintain the electronic “ness” of the drums, but also have a live drummer play. I also knew I didn’t want the live drummer to emulate everything so I went with one of my favorite ways of doing things, making a sort of hybrid thing. You know, like a cybernetic organism: living tissue over metal exoskeleton.
This one was a bear to get the arrangement right as i didn’t want to shorten it but if not paying special attention, the energy could dip in spots.
Lyrically, the song is sort of my outsider song, a single outsider growing in numbers until it’s insurmountable and time to storm the gate. How important staying together is, how strength in numbers can help those who are downtrodden. To say that at least we tried.

Probably my favorite snare sound of the album. Ended up buying it from the person who lent it to me (Thanks Cameron!)
And yes, those are two bass parts on this song, panned hard right and left. To make things more interesting: I told Sebastian when he came over to track that we would track together instead of separately. I thought would add some electricity to the performance.
