Tom Petty v Sam Smith

One day I was feverishly working on a brand new song. Very excited about it.
A bandmate/roommate who heard me singing, knocked on my door and said, “Dude, what are you doing?”
“I’m working on a song, why?”
He says, “You do know that’s ‘Everybody Wants to Rule the World’ by Tears For Fears, right?”

I thought about it for all of a second, deflated, and replied, “Well….I do NOW!”

This happens. It’s rarely surreptitious or malicious. It just happens. Welcome to Creativity: brought to you by the makers of influence, inspiration, & similarity.

So, Kudos to TP for being a pro about this. And to Sam for being humble and honest.
