Ah, the new year. A fresh start to tackle all the things that make me excited.
Wife’s doing well; Superchunk’s doing well. LA has been the notably glad recipient of rain. I think we’ve had more rain in this young year of 3 weeks age than all of last year.
Bought a wok. Wok cooking is a blast. Thai food has become my latest favorite cuisine to cook. And I’m flying a bit off the grid lately and just winging it.
Last night’s dish had the following components:
noodles, red bell pepper, carrots, onion, green onion, mint, cilantro, brown sugar, fish sauce, sambal oelek, mushrooms, soy sauce, tons of garlic and chicken. Gloriously wokified. Yes, it’s a word. Google it.
On weekends I’m averaging about 12 hours in the studio (during the week, I can only get in about 6. ugh…day job…). I’m in mix mode right now, working on the new record. It can get a little tiring, and I won’t be displaying the emotions of words like thrilled and the like til I start rounding the corner and hitting my customary giggle point. I’m completely re-thinking the way I do mixes. Top to bottom. So, I’m very in highly much in critical mode at the moment.
At the moment, I’m on mix three. The 1st one (always the most difficult), will be assuredly scrapped, but mix 2 and 3 are really starting to take form. I bet by the 5th mix, I’ll be much more in a rhythm that will allow me to step outside my critical box and go ok, i’m happy now.
By the way, if I haven’t mentioned it before, I should mention it now:
Later, when i have some time, I’ll put to words my reason for this.
‘Til then, hope your 2008 is going well!
