Accomplished some things this week that I’m happy about. Most of it backend, prep work and what not. I wish I could be more outspoken on it, but much of it is…
well, most of it… is boring.
But there are some things that I can soon tell you about. Upcoming LA shows, mastering is done, almost all the songs on the new record are ready to be played out live.
Practiced last night. Flanders was out of town, so it gave me a chance to hunker down with Mike, Bob and Steve and work on vocals, trying out new parts, fleshing out ideas and discussing possible upcoming shows. It’s amazing how tedious being in a band is (or can be). Most tend to glorify or at least focus on the so called glamour. But, let me tell you, it is much more like waiting to ride on Disney’s Space Mountain: 2 hours of waiting for a 5 minute ride. Except in this case, it’s more like 23 hours of waiting for a 45 minute set. Same with making records, releasing records, it all is a lot of backend work that is time consuming, many times suffocating (if you’re a workaholic), and just makes you go, man, I’m tired…!
This weekend holds less band stuff and more personal stuff. I gotta get on some personal work I’ve been meaning to wrap up. And Florida State plays Wake Forest this weekend. They’ve had our number the last two years, and we’re hoping to show up as a resurgent team. I am so excited about this game. Man oh man.
I don’t know that I’ll be doing anything too much fun (other than that); just pecking away at the computer and tending to personal errands.
So, have yourselves a great weekend, and I’ll see you on the flipside of Sunday…
