Ah, life’s little speedbumps

mixing Song 3 now of CD4 (how’s that for “need to know” coded language?)….

Printing my midi tracks (piano and keys), and JUST as I’m about to hit record button, something happens to the sounds of the main keyboard part.
The whole sound changes. Kaput. Different.

BLARGH!!!!

I soon determined it was automation on a distortion FX that literally “made-the-sound”.
I spent 3 hours trying to get back to it. I got maybe 80 percent of the way there, and finally got so flustered I stopped for the night.

Next day, woke up and hated it. Walked away from it. Happy thoughts, happy thoughts….happy thoughts….
Later in the day, I tried again, and “oh, there it is”–found the one parameter that was escaping me. So, spent another hour re-recording the automation to tweak the sound, and am basically at 98% of the original sound.

Listened to it again over the last few days, and the original sound–as well as the speedbump– is now just a memory.

Crisis averted.
