Friday night, went down to OC to congratulate a dear friend on her recent graduation from UC Irvine(by eating a ton of ribs, chicken, pulled pork etc). You know thedrill: 2.5 hours to get there. Annoying drive but had a blast.
Saturday, I was up and ready to jump into the studio. First Bob came over and put down his first ever recorded bass line for a Chancesong. He used his 8-string bass and it. sounded. fierce. This is a newsong called “Finger on the Trigger Makes a Man Feel Bigger.” Yes, I rather like the long title too. 😉
Bob had to work that night, so after he was finishedI continued workingon that song, and then hopped over to the other song I was working on.
Closed out the night by hanging out with Steve, Margaret & Christina at El Coyote. Two Margaritas later, I think I think you could have found me mockingthe very concept of pre-determination and fate as well why I like tosay the phrase “foundation of lies” when I’m slightly enebriated. I’msuch a light weight. Literally: one sip into my 2nd margarita and I’mdone for.
Sunday, Steve came over. Not to record, but he did end up accompanyingme on a foggy drive to a studio gear place. I needed an adaptor for mymicrophone stand. When I bought the stand, someone probably five fingerdiscounted the adaptor that should have been on it. It was way to latefor me to realize this and well, i had to go get a little doo-hicky,because my mic no likey the mikey stand otherwise.
This before AND after we ate at LA Burger, a greasy spoon hamburgershack on Pico. Course, he had fricking pancakes. At 1:30 in theafternoon.
Then, just like a 70’s sitcom, another choir member came over (cuecrowd applause). You know how they walk through the door, don’t sayanything as the crowd screams mightily? Yea, like Kramer on Seinfeld(Only before his short stint at standup.) Anyway, this time it was Mike. He recorded a fantastic acoustic track for this song I have called “You.”
Yes, I rather like the short title too.
When am I going to tell you about Project “You?” Hmmm, very soon, maybein the next three days? Yes. Hopefully. If you’re a musician, or haveaccess to a friend’s studio (even the cheesiest of studios), you’llwant to stay tuned for this.
So, this week, I’ll be working on all these tunes, and prepping Single 17 for release.
Lots of fun stuff!
