Show Recap

Hey kids, Chance here.
Played Riverside last night.
Riverside, CA is oh, about 60 or so miles east of LA. Doesn’t make it 60 minutes tho’, especially on a Friday night. Thank GOD for Sigalert.com; we watched our computer monitors for a break in traffic before we headed out. Since we went on late, didn’t even leave LA til about 8:30, and we got there a lot sooner than expected (90 minutes).

The club is called The Vibe. Jared’s the name of the promoter and I swear we’ve had a recent string of luck with promoters; this guy is great. Before we went on stage, Jared and I actually hung out for a good 30 minutes and talked life, family, and the many ups and downs of some of our similar and all too familiar and familial struggles we shared. Seriously! All that in 30 minutes. We were surprised how easily it all flowed.

Also, met the guys and girl in A Kiss Could Be Deadly, a local IE band. They had a modern spin on the 80’s new wave, and I personally couldn’t be more pleased as to how down to earth and outgoing they were. Refreshing, don’t you think?

Alas, our set time was 11:30 but ahem, not even close. I think we hit the stage at 12:15. Fortunately there were still a decent amount of people there. The Vibe’s a corner stage so that usually means not much room on either side. We seemed to fit alright and got up and ready to go.

Oh yea, I have to tell you: I’ve been sick for 6 days straight. I’m talking bed and couch ridden sick. Flanders was sick maybe two weeks ago, Mike was just getting over a cold (I blame him!), Steve and Bob were both starting their colds. Needless to stay we were not feeling very well and should probably re-consider all those mid practice makeout sessions we do .

Our set:
Independent
Pause but Don’t Stop
Radiofree
Forgive+Forget
Taste of the Good Life
My Oh My
Hip Hop High
Man on a Mission (cut mid set)
Milkshake
Say What You Will

Decided to cut one song in the middle of the set because my voice just wasn’t able to take the onslaught of this show, being sick and having not sang in over a week (a first: the boys actually practiced without me on Wednesday). So, we cut Man, and went into Milkshake which, in a moment of clarity, I announced may be the last time we ever play that song. At least for a nice long while.

Closing with Say What You Will, I riffed a bit of Pink Floyd’ Another Brick in the Wall (pt 2). That was fun.

All in all, the show was a blast (health considering), and I’m really looking forward to playing the Vibe again. We ended up closing out the club hanging out with some of the locals (Mike is from the area and had a TON of friends in attendance).

Didn’t get home til just shy of 4 AM (we hit some highway construction on the way home).

And that’s it!
