My name is Chance. This is my poem for 08-02-2005…

Oh, you know the type!
The ones who like to gripe!
The ones who suffer hoof in mouth
but seldom close their pipe!

Oh, you know the type!
The ones who cry boo hoo!
They weep with maudlin misery
but they’re better off than you!

Oh, you know the type!
The ones who stew inside!
Who think all those they ever knew
would rather they have died!

But who knows the type?
The ones who do it right?
Their presence there when needed most
In darkness, a safelight

Their pattern: inspiration
Their candor: affirmation
Now matter how you tumble low
They give you elevation

Oh, you know the types!
The ones I now speak of
And if you read, which one of these
fits you like a glove?
