Driving me crazy

Sometimes songs just drop out like the 7th child, the birth process facilitated by the fact there were 6 children before.
Others, you know you are in for brutal labor.

This is one of those songs.

I am working on a song right now that is driving me crazy. Tentatively, it’s titled Pause, Don’t Stop. It really works from the intro, through the 1st verse, through the first chorus and to the re-intro. I mean REALLY works.

Then it just sort of collapses. It feels repetitive. It fails to impress me. And it frustrates to no end because it starts so beautifully!

To which I must say: UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This has SO MUCH POTENTIAL, it is just killing me.

I’ve thought about axing the chorus in favor of a new one (and of course, unwritten), but man it just works so nicely, i’d hate to have to do that.
I’ve removed the guitar parts I wrote for the 2nd verse, wondering if that is doing it. Maybe, dunno.
It’s driving me crazy. I so want to make it work.

I won’t be able to work on it today…cause it’s my birthday. But don’t think for a second I won’t be working on it in my head!

Celebrate my birthday in your own way, and wish me luck on this tune!
