Mastering for SIX THROUGH TEN is finished. Finished up last night, as just a few fixes/changes needed to be made.
So, next up is the artwork.
Now….here’s the funny thing about the artwork. I designed the CD art, and was pretty happy about it. Yesterday evening, exhausted from the previous days’ work, I opened up the file to finalize it so I could send along with the masters to the manufacturer.
Then it just sort of…”dawned” on me:
The design did NOT take into consideration the size of the non-printed or non-printable aread of the CD. It only took into consideration the ACTUAL hole. So, all of a sudden my design has a hole in it that is a little more than twice the size.
F*CK. This almost completely screws my design.
After a few minutes of cranky whining, I asked a friend for some advice (he’s an accomplished designer). He made a couple of helpful suggestions that after a HELL of a lot of work, may just work out ok.
I called the CD people and they sent me the official template. And I’m using that to figure away around this little (but slightly big) annoyance. I project AT LEAST 4 to 5 hours of extra work, doing and undoing the existing work.
So, I very much doubt I’ll get this in the mail before tomorrow, probably not til next week. But… fingers crossed. I’m targeting the first or 2nd week of April for release. I know; I like challenges.
Apart from that, it’s only March 3rd, but it is time to begin thinking about the March 19th show, and I’ll be announcing the 2nd Chance and the Choir show then too.
I almost forgot to mention: CD sounds good! 😉
