My biggest draw so far! Nice to see so many people, many of them loyal listeners, loyal FOC’ers, and loyal readers of this column in attendance. And quite a few newbies seeing me for the 1st time.
It had rained most of the evening, and cleared up maybe an hour before I left for Room 5. Which made it a very cold night (by LA’s standards); probably in the mid to upper 40’s.
Since it was my last LA show of the year, I wanted to break out some surprises.
Here’s the set list:
1. A Sort of Homecoming (U2)
2. Carefully Placed on the Side (dedicated to Sebi)
3. There Won’t Be a Next Time
4. My Oh My
5. Percy’s Song
6. Woke Up to Everything (upcoming audio release)
7. Man on a Mission (backing vocals: Sebi)
8. Hip Hop High
9. Say What You Will
10. Closer’s Not Good Enough
“A Sort” is one of my all time faves from U2, and it was alot of fun to play broken down with sort of an electric, wurlitzer piano tone.
Carefully Placed is a song I’d never played live before but, for me, features some of my favorite lyrical crafting. I just like how the words borrow from each other, each mini-phrase developing the next phrase. Alot of fun to sing as a single piano piece.
Woke Up to Everything will be my next single audio release.
All in all, a fun show, and thank you to everyone who showed up. OH YEA: Thanks to everyone who bought the new CD!
Also, there will be a ton of pics posted, probably tomorrow…
Talk to you soon, and thanks for the support…
