A marriage, a movie and some meatloaf

Elvis Levy calls me up on Friday and asks If I would officiate over the marriage of his friend Cameron’s cousin (and his fiance’). I said, sure why the hell not.

For those who don’t know this: I am a legally ordained minister for the Universal Life Church. That’s right, I can officiate over marriages thanks in no small part to the Internet.

Oh, you ask why I do/and have done this? Again, my answer is simple: “Why not?”

I’ve “married” two couples thus far, and take great pride that I’m batting 1.000 in that both couples are happy and close. This was my first “sight unseen.”

It had to be early Sunday morning, as I was going to see Team America (again) with friends in the early afternoon, followed by an easy going dinner party at mi casa.

Met the couple, along with Cameron at 4th and Wilshire in Santa Monica. It had been for raining the last hour, and as they got out of the car, I quickly noticed the “shotgun nature” of the soon-to-be newlyweds. Very nice people, and immediately we walked down to the beach.

The walk to the beach took longer than the ceremony; I signed the marriage license and as always, laughed quietly while marking the box of what my official title is with that of “Reverend.”

And yes, true to hollywood scripted form, the rain stopped as soon as the ceremony began. By the power vested in me….

Team America: Take 2

AMERICA: FUCK YEAH!

Just as funny as the 1st time. You know, I don’t remember ever being so interested in owning a DVD. Other than maybe Rushmore (own it).

Then, me and 6 other people coached over to my place where I made some good old fashioned comfort food:
Meatloaf, Mashed Potatoes and green beans.

Good times, kids, good times…

And oh yea, I was in fact exhausted at the end of the day of the end of a weekend that went pretty… damn… well…
