I gotta say, I had a great weekend.
Friday:
Watch the Lakers decimate the T’Wolves.
Me and my girl then went and grabbed a movie: Dirty Pretty Things starring Audrey Tautou (sp?). She was the girl who starred in Amelie, one of the best movies of the last 5 years. It was good but, you know, there was one line uttered by the main character (not Audrey) that almost singlehandedly f*ck*d the movie. It completely took you out of the realism of it all. In an instant, almost all was lost. I can’t remember if I’ve ever experienced anything like it. And you know? It still was a good movie! But probably the saddest truth is that it was sooooo be design. Weird, huh… It’s eclectic, but see it if you’re in the mood for a little something different.
Saturday:
Oh man, Saturday was great. I first hung out with a guy I’ll call Sharke. He helped Portable out after OIYLU came out as he directed a vid for us (No, Eddy you can’t get a copy). Just a student thing he was doing for school, but he’s an incredibly talented graphics designer and certainly has his future ahead of him. He came over, as originally he just wanted to see how I incorporated Reason (which he wants) into Pro Tools (which he’s at least considering). I actually was surprised we talked so much about me and some of my plans as we listened back to some of the tracks I had recorded. It was great to see him, and frankly I think this was the 1st time we ever personally hung out. In the past, I really knew him more as a friend of a friend. Anyway, I believe we will be working on something together soon. I very much look forward to that.
Spoke on the phone with my new musician friend, Brittany Shanes. She and her guitar player/significant-o just returned from a trip to London and Paris. She was loopy from jet lag. I should have messed with her mind, but I didn’t.
Then, after that, I waited for g-friend to return from work as we were soon to head out to a rad’ dinner, at a restaurant called Spanish Kitchen, with two of our closest friends: E and Hair, I’ll call them. Great food, three too many margaritas, and a bill that allowed me to do my best imitation of a cartoon character with dinner plate eyes.
E had never taken my XB out for a spin yet (only 2 other people have so far), so we did that. As well, he test drove g-friend’s Mini Cooper. Yes, we are a household of tre’ cool cars. Mind you, it was midnight when we went a’speedin’ ’round the neighborhood.
Sunday:
What do you think we did Sunday? We slept in, damnit. After realizing we both fell asleep on the couch circa 4 AM, we clawed our way to the be’droom, and were awaken by lil’ sis around 8:47 AM. (jeez, i was specific; why did I say “around”?)
She was a little in fear/nervous/anxious mode as she was 24 hours away from her first job in a while. After talking with her bro, the nerves subsided and she relegated herself to her fate of expanding her comfort zone. I hope she’ll be fine…she’ll be fine…
Then, did a litte web work, then…
The only other bump in Sunday, was the Lakers getting their ass kicked. Didn’t really get to see much of it, because, yes, kids, I cooked indian food again. I tried to conquer my holy grail: my favorite dish called Chicken Murgh Makhani. Well, this story is too long as it is but suffice to say it came out better than I thought it would (only after significantly amping up the recipe) but not as good as my favorite indian restaurant’s dish (an amazing place called Nizam: tell Mahesh I sent you!).
And then finally, one of the best Sopranos of the year, with story and plot lines that actually mattered. If there was any problem it was the fact they tried to tighten up a bunch of loose story lines quickly and within an hour, like when a kid goes on this long elaborate lie that ends suddenly. Well, not exactly that way, but hopefully you get the drift.
The web site is almost done. I go live Tuesday with the big announcement! Wish me luck… Ok, I gotta get to bed, I’m tired.
