Ground control to Major Chance…

Coming out of the fog of a BS cold, it’s always nice when you unexpectedly get phone calls.

Got a call from Brian today; I gave him a copy of some of my new demos last weekend and he called back with solicited opinion. It was a bright early afternoon and he was on his way to a showcase. He’s playing drums for a guy named Cameron Meshell and I believe he was showcasing for Universal. I hope that goes well.

Bri-dog said that, at first, he gravitated towards the ones that he had heard before, but after more listens had started to prefer some of the new ones. There was a couple he didn’t care for and that was good too. I wasn’t interested in only positive feedback, I asked him too if there was anything that bugged. The cool thing is I think he really likes this one song I am particularly excited about, one called Sunny Days Just Like You (Percy’s Song). More on that later, but I think I might have to make that my next release on this site.

Then Gus calls! Gus is almost always in a playful mood when he calls. Whether driven by the monotony of his job, or the amount of coffee my fine Argentine friend drinks, it usually takes 5 minutes to get past the laughing joking et all of any phone call with Gus before you find out what he calls for.

And he asked me about the music! I told him I needed to get him a copy of the stuff and sort of laid out some of the very sketchy plans I had, this website, some of the initial so called “industry” contacts I wanted to first make. He was “all good” about that.

Then we talked a little football too, since the draft is coming up. I told him the other day that I hoped his team [the Giants] picks Philip Rivers because I think the guys is going to make an amazing NFL quarterback. Giants pick 4th in the 1st round, we shall see.

Gus and I will be getting together very soon to enjoy spirits and eats.

Then Cary called! Cary is a director friend of mine. He was the one who directed “Roll Over & Play Dead” for Portable and has become a really good friend. His wife is preggers and he had been pretty hard at work for the last month so we sort of scheduled end of this month beginning of next to meet up. So, rather than catch up on the phone, we plan on getting together next week. I plan on getting him copies of the tunes too.

Ok, today is April 23rd. Next year, same time this will be a pretty important day. You’ll hear more about that later. But mark your calendar, cause it’s pretty cool. Well, at least for me…

Alright, I’m hungry. Gotta run.
