1. Chance Music Store Overview
My name is Chance, and I am an independent Solo Artist. This is my store. There are many stores out there that carry my music (Amazon, CDBaby, iTUnes), but this one is mine. You'll get extra things here you can't get anywhere else.
MP3s are now ripped @320kbs. That's CD quality, yo.
You'll get in-depth look into my music, including, not just the lyrics, but the story behind the songwriting (GENESIS), the recording and mixing process (GEEKOUT), plus art and art galleries. It's my intention to make my little store the best that it can be for fans of my music. Pure and simple.
2. How do I download a new mp3 release?
first you go to the music store, select the download you want, and add it to your cart. Select as many items as you like. Once you are ready to pay, you simply hit "checkout." The store will re-direct you to the payment page. It's that simple!
Once you receive e-mail confirmation of payment, follow the instructions on that page. It will contain a temporary password for logging in and your login page address. Use your e-mail and temp pass to log in and you'll have 3 days to download your song. If you have any problems with downloading, let me know via the store's contact page.
3. Wha?? I have to pay for the download???
You sure do. I am a big believer in what comes around, goes around. I put everything into my music, and hope you'll see that. This will not open up the floodgates wealth-wise, but it helps pay my operational bills and if there are enough of you out there, it'll help put me and my band on the road. So, support independent music!
4. Oh, well ok. That makes sense. But then, why so cheap? Do you need gas money?
Yes, that's funny. My fan Justin once mentioned that too. But I want to keep it as cheap as possible, and I am using ITunes as my model. Plus, I happen to agree with Steve Jobs that record companies (not all, but most) are just greedy. I think 99 cents is a great price for downloadable music.
But that being said, gas IS a million times more expensive in California than anywhere else in the US, so I guess it goes to reason...(I used to have a lot of teachers in school say that: "It goes to reason...")
5. Ah, well, Fair enough. That makes sense. Then, how do I pay for it?
Pay for all purchases using PayPal. PayPal, owned by EBAY, is a free, easy to use and secure way of using your credit card or e-check online. It's a god send for artists like me.
6. Do I have to have a PayPal Account? Do I need a credit card, or can I use a check?
Yes, you need to have a PayPal account and it's quick and easy to register. Just fill out all the information on the account instructions after you've checked out of the shopping cart and you can begin in minutes.
You will need either a credit card or a checking account to purchase a download. Note, however, that checks take a few days for PayPal to process (usually 3-5 days). Plus, also note that the Chance music store will not send you your download instructions until the e-check has cleared.
All credit card payments are INSTANT so you'll get to your download that much faster.
7. Are the samples and alternate versions free?
8. Ok, so I registered with PayPal and paid for the download. Now what do I do?
Once you pay for the download, you'll receive a confirmation e-mail from the music store. In that e-mail, you'll get a download log in page and a temporary password. Use your e-mail you paid with and enter along with that the temporary password supplied by the store. Then, you have 5 days & 5 attempts to download your song.
9. What if I accidentally delete the temporary password or, worse, what if I can't completely download the song within the allotted time or # of times?
Sometimes people are busy. I totally understand. If you do any of this, just contact me via the store's contact page, and I will regenerate your password. (You can also just reply to the store e-mail that has all the instructions.)
10. These songs are MP3, aren't they? What kind of MP3 quality are they?
I was waiting for this one. How exciting!
Yes, they are MP3's. I've recently updated my quality. Here are the specs:
The Audio is ripped from 44.1 16 bit mastered wav files at the following settings:
MP3 (1); Bitrate minimum is 320 kbps Stereo Mode. Quality= Very High (q=0)
Output sample rate is 44100.
The bottom line is the downloads are a little larger file size but higher quality. I want them to sound the best they can.
Note: all downloads are in a ZIP format, meaning you can use Winzip or similar software to unzip your new MP3.
Note 2: 320kbs is for all the new music as of 11/14/2008. But don't worry, I'm getting to the other stuff too. That'll be upgraded as well.
11. Can I order a song on CD instead of downloading it?
Absolutely, all my music is available on CDs. As a matter of fact, the CDs have extra songs not available by download.
12. Will you sell these songs at shows? What about the multi-packs?
All of my CD's are available at shows. Multi-packs of 5 or more are an online only discount.
13. Are these demos that I'm downloading?
It depends on your outlook. I am an independent solo artist, so I don't know if I'm really 'demonstrating' to anyone. Of course, I'm willing to listen to anyone who is interested in my music.
14. Shirts. Are these cheap or quality?
Since I'm small order kind of guy, I go for quality over quantity. So I only order American Apparel or Alternative Apparel shirts. Made in the USA, these shirts are the most comfortable and well fitted shirts I've tried on when it comes to mass production shirts. And they get better with each wash.
15. Shirts! Ordered one, but it never got to me, came in the wrong size, fits me funny, makes me sweat!
OK, I never have had the above happen, but I suppose anything is possible. Don't worry; just contact me and we'll solve whatever issue you have with your order.
